Our vision

Our vision

Evolution to 50% of the market for the next 2 years.
Le validation of the new norm introduce category 6 (finally official since the month of June 2002) as the queen of categories since we estimate it with a 90% of increase per year. This growth is due to the huge needs of high speed transmissions.

" In 2001, the number of 100 M/bits ports reach the 10 M/bits ports numbers in the world. The market grow to the high speed when the price of a 100 M/bits ports decreased to a 10 M/bits ports price. In 2006, than the number of 1000 M/bits ports will exceed the 100 M/bits ports." Anixter Europe.

Evolution :

We can estimate the growth of the category 6 around 90%/year. We could freely forecast 40% of market share end of 2003 and 60% end of 2004. Regarding projects issued by specifyers, 85% will be prescribed in category 6 starting from the official validation of the norm. But that doesn't mean that 100% of those prescribed projects will be realised in category 6. Different factors will interfere to decrease the original ambitions, especially the costs and installers competences.

Medialan and Normalization

" Meet the Interoperability requirements with a GLOBAL SOLUTION MIND, developing cabling system component to exceed the standards and norms specifications."

  • We are "component", part of a channel : the outlet is a component, part of a global solution that enables the interoperability.

The launching of MediaLan global solutions is made with the validation of the new Category 6, that have to be known.

  • " Not known yet : It's one of the major topics of our training courses. People speaks about category 6 without really knowing the final draft. Which specifications? How to test? Wich testing equipment shall I use?
  • " The new cat6 is approved* : that's fundamental to understand the market structure in Europe where the share of the category 6 ceil at 19% (BSRIA 2000). Due to the delay of the validation of that new standard, each manufacturer took freely the obligation to create its own proprietary "category 6", referring to any draft. The European market is trained enough to switch to category 6..

Guaranty or insurance ?

To Guaranty What ?
Today, bad products doesn't exist anymore. All meets more or less the same standards and norms specifications. On the other hand, the bad installation or lack of service potentially still exist. Moreover, the traditional manufacturers guaranty programs pledge them to the respect of the usual standards and norms specifications at the moment of the installation only. Some warranty a list of application, real chimera when we know that those application are included within those drafts.

In case of the installer abandonment during the installation?
Imagine the case of a listed and trained installer of a manufacturer. Products, certified to the last standards and norms, are delivered and some (only) are installed. Suddenly, during the road work's, the installer disappear without any either reason or advise. This troublesome situation will be solve finally by the manufacturer in a short time but the probability of a loss of confidence of the End User, in the best case, without speaking of the delay of the delivery of the installation that may create conflicts in terms of reimbursement of exploitation losses. The traditional Guaranty is not adapted.

What about a wrong design of installations?
The informatics risks may generate extreme consequences in terms of responsibilities. Even with conform products, when the installation or the network is not adapted to the environments or needs, it may constrict the running of a End User Company or institution. The traditional Guaranty cannot help.

In case of accident throughout the road work's?
This type of event may generate minor material damages (furniture or pan of glass, decoration…) or it can be major disaster that may affect the goods but also the security of people, than to plebe the responsibility of installer but also and especially of the Project Manager and also the End User. The traditional Guaranty doesn't play.

Conclusion : The traditional Guaranty are not adapted anymore to the risks linked to conception, to performances and realisation of VDI cabling systems. Freely unclear, the duration still remain its main marketing argument, which is not enough to answer to the informatics risks and civil responsibility. Wy warrant 1, 3, 10 or even 25 years ("life long" in the past) what has to be changed or repair before the
delivery of the installation? This is only marketing arguments that hide from view the huge gap in terms of insurance against the informatics risks.

Beyond the legal manufacturer guaranty, Medialan designed a Insurance program with a International Insurance Company for your security.
The interests of our End Users is the availability and competence of our installers networks, more than the duration of the guaranty (see INSURANCE)
